The Quiet Millionaire by Brett Wilder [Rich Credit Debt Loan]
Jun 20th
There are so many personal finance books out there and most seem to fall into one of two categories – Get rich insanely quick or get frugal to turn your life around. For those of us that want a more solid and easy to accomplish means of developing a personal fortune, there are not a lot of options. However, The Quiet Millionaire showed a lot of promise when we first spotted it and we were truly surprised by this book.
Unlike the aforementioned books, the main premise of this one is that the average person can become a millionaire, and it More >
Vanguard Brokerage Services To Offer Free ETF Trades [Amateur Asset Allocator]
Jun 20th
On May 4, 2010 the Vanguard Group announced a dramatically new pricing plan for its Vanguard Brokerage Services wing, which until now had been incredibly uncompetitive and was recommended by almost nobody. In a move to become more competitive with online discount brokers such as Tradeking and Zecco , Vanguard has slashed its transaction fees from $20+ to as low as $2 (or free for investors with large account balances, see chart below for all the confusing details). The Pièce de résistance , however, is what Vanguard has done for Vanguard ETF trades.

Chase Freedom: Don’t Expect Your Reward Program to Last [NerdWallet]
Jun 20th
Last week, I became another victim of Chase Freedom ’s scheme to reneg on their “3% back in your top 3 categories” reward program that enticed so many cardholders to sign up 2-3 years ago. At varying times throughout the past year, Chase has been punting many cardholders from the program. Old cardholders are being told that they are now on a 1.1% cash back program, and that they can no longer redeem $200 in rewards for a $250 check (one of the card’s key selling points!)

There is safety in numbers. Or so says the old adage tells us.
So with nearly 25 percent of all U.S. homes underwater, and estimates as high as 20 percent of all foreclosures being strategic defaults, more underwater homeowners are beginning to see others crossing the strategic default bridge. In fact, underwater homeowners are beginning to consider walking away to be the lesser of several evils when it comes to their financial future. A few might even feel less social More >
Correction on, but this is not a top [The Rogue Investor]
Jun 20th
This last week was quite a shock. 990 points.
This last week was quite a shock. 990 points.
Surprisingly, the S&P 500 is only down 8.74% from the top. While that is a big chunk, it less than 1% more than the last pullback. Chart:
We've tumbled 8.74% so far. The question is how much further will we go?
I’ve got a blue support line on the chart above. Based on it, we still have a little more to fall. Before that line we have the 200MA which could also be a point of support.
As far as analyzing the price movement, we have More >

Is Consumer Choice Marketing a Scam? [The Almost Millianaire]
Jun 20th
If you have been a reader of this blog for any time, you know that I have a HUGE PROBLEM with ANYTHING that seems like a scam. I’ve questioned Quicken Loans … Capital One Financial … Astonish Results and others. Several of the things we’ve looked into and asked for input on still seem scam-like today, while others seem more legitimate after getting comments and feedback from people who support their company or cause.

Terminator Meets Wall Street [Money Hacks]
Jun 20th
Thursday, it seemed as if the machines took over on Wall Street, where automated trading and a possible trader's error sent the collective stock market into a tailspin never seen before. NEW YORK (AP) — A computerized selloff possibly caused by a simple typographical error triggered one of the most turbulent days in Wall Street history Thursday and sent the Dow Jones industrials to a loss of almost 1,000 points, nearly a tenth of their value, in less than half an hour. It was the biggest drop ever during a trading day.
